Mechanical Design Engineer

If you believe this too, then come join us where your daily tasks will include the analysis and drafting of mechanical drawings and designs; creation of part and assembly designs; supporting both the design and development of assembly processes, enclosures and materials selection; execution of test plans; construction of prototypes; development of automated manufacturing equipment; and working with vendors to create and maintain manufacturing lines.

 

Primary Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To:

  • Design and optimization of mechanical components for our zeroXess system
  • Develop, document and review specifications and other data to create mechanical layouts; generate mechanical models and drawings
  • Bring new technologies from the bench-top proof-of-concept to production-ready design, working closely with R&D and manufacturing engineering
  • Interface with outside vendors for component selection, manufacturing and assembly
  • Identify and validate equipment, as well as material suppliers and maintain relationship networks
  • Carry out change requests in a timely manner
  • Ensure the mechanical design output fits in with all other aspects of the design
  • Mechanical part selection, taking into consideration obsolescence, availability and cost
  • Specify system components, or direct modification of products, to ensure conformance with engineering design and performance specifications
  • Responsible for checking and validating mechanical engineer designs and drawings where required
  • Ensures the mechanical design functionality meets the user requirements

 

Position Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • Minimum of two years experience designing parts, using various manufacturing techniques
  • Expert experience with mechanical CAD/CAM software (Adobe CS, and Rhino). Excellent skills with Pro-E/Solidworks
  • Skilled in the generation of engineering documentation such as mechanical and engineering drawings, parts list and specifications
  • Familiar with Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
  • Strong knowledge of industrial and manufacturing materials, their properties, capabilities, as well as process background
  • Skilled in design, color and material trending
  • Experience in Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA)
  • Knowledgeable with manufacturing techniques like sheet-metal parts, progressive die
  • Hands-on work experience in a production environment
  • Previous hands-on experience with 3-D printing
  • Experience in the development of modular concepts
  • Understand the critical aspect relevant to projects dealing with a large amount of electrical power confined in compact enclosures. Maintain proper spacing guidelines for safety and reliability contrasted by reducing material and size for increased cost advantage
  • Comfortable identifying and establishing relationships with top vendors and the ability to interact effectively with them, as well as colleagues
  • Strong problem solving skills, with the ability to combine theory with empirical observation
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work with tight deadlines
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills
  • Self-starter and comfortable in a start-up environment
